History
The Morristown S.D.A. School opened in 1928.It operated for two years until it closed because of the Great Depression of the 1930’s.Later, the school was reopened at the church building on Louise Avenue. In 1967 the church purchased the current property on W. Economy Road. The church members decided to build the church building first, and then a school. The school would meet in one wing of the church.
In 1977 the first plans for the new school were made, but it was not until April of 1982 that the final plans were made.Jack Godwin’s Construction Company began work in July.In October the teacher and students moved into the almost-completed building.Open House was held in May of 1982.
The Morristown Seventh-day Adventist School is only one of the many schools operated by the largest Protestant parochial school system in the world. The worldwide Seventh-day Adventist Church has more than 790 Universities, Colleges, and secondary schools.
Surveys have indicated that on average, children in grades K through eight who are educated in Adventist schools are two years more advanced scholastically than those receiving a public education.
We, the current directors and staff of the Morristown S.D.A. School, praise God for His blessings past and present. We believe that as we allow God to direct our decisions for the future of our school, we will continue to receive His rich blessings.

Mission Statement
The Mission of the MorristownAdventistSchool is to provide an environment that nurtures each student mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually, to encourage a personal relationship with Jesus, and to instill an attitude of dependence on God, respect for others, and a commitment to be the best that you can be.
Philosophy
The MorristownS.D.A.ChurchSchool was established to bring about the salvation of the young people through acceptance of, and faith in, Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. It is the objective of this school, through Christian education, to help each young person achieve a growth in character that will make him a God-fearing, honest, stable, and productive member of society and assist him in preparation for eternal life.
The educational philosophy of the Seventh-dayAdventistChurch is based on the belief that humanity’s ultimate purpose is to love and serve God and their neighbor, both now and for eternity. The Bible is the infallible frame of reference by which truth is measured. Its central message depicts the creation, the fall of man, and God’s plan for
restoration of man through Jesus Christ. We view Jesus, His life, His death on the cross, and His resurrection, as the center of man’s hopes for the future.
“True education means more than the pursuit of a certain course of study, more than a preparation for life that now is.It has to do with the whole being and with the whole period of existence possible to man.It is the harmonious development of the physical, mental, and spiritual powers. It prepares the student for the joy of service in this world and for the higher joy of wider service in the world to come.”
Education, p.23
Objectives
1.To keep Christ before our students while in worship, study, at work and at play.
2.To maintain in our school a spiritual atmosphere in which prayer, worship, and doing the will of God will be, in the eyes of our students, the ideal and accepted pattern of living.
3.To lead students to make a commitment to the service of their God, their church, and their fellow man.
4.To help our students achieve a Christian philosophy of life as well as acquire the knowledge, attitude, and skills necessary for a Christian character.
5.To promote social, cultural, emotional, and physical growth.
Notice of Non-Discrimination
While the primary purpose of this school is to provide a Christian education for the children of the church, a limited number of non-S.D.A. children may be accepted. The school is not designed for or equipped for special education and is not open for students who are behind scholastically, experiencing adjustment difficulties or discipline problems in the public school. However, this school will accept all qualified students regardless of race, color, religion or national origin.
Admission Policy
A standard application form obtained from the school should be completed, signed, and presented to the teacher or school board chairperson. The MorristownS.D.A.ChurchSchool Board must approve all applicants before admission is official. All new students must present their latest report card and may be asked to take a placement test before admission is approved.A copy of the student’s birth certificate is required, and a physical examination and immunizations must be completed by new students and students entering Kindergarten, 1st, 4th, or 7th grades.

“Upon every Christian parent there rests the solemn obligation of giving to his children an education that will lead them to gain knowledge of the Lord and to become partakers of the divine nature through obedience to God’s will and way.”Child Guidance, p. 304

Financial Policies
The school board administers the financial policies of the school. It is the belief of our church that it has a responsibility, along with the parents, for the education of our youth. Each year the Morristown S.D.A. church subsidizes a major portion of the school’s expenses so that parents pay only a fraction of the actual cost of their child’s Christian education. While it is believed that every child should have the opportunity of obtaining a Christian education in our school regardless of the parent’s financial position, the school board nevertheless feels that our school should operate on a sound financial basis. The following policies have been adopted to help maintain this condition.
1.The tuition and fees of the MorristownS.D.A.ChurchSchool are charged for 10 full months, August-May.
2.All previous accounts must be settled or adequate arrangements made before a child is to be accepted.
3.The registration fee and the first month’s tuition must be paid on registration day or no later than one week prior to the beginning of school.Any exceptions must have the approval of the school board before admission will be granted.

~The School Board will review all accounts over 30 days late and a board member will make a personal contact.
~For accounts 20 days late, the parent or guardian will be requested to appear before the School Board or Finance Committee.
~For any account over 45 days delinquent, all classes will be suspended until payment is received.Tuition must be paid in advance of attending classes.
5.There will be a 5% reduction for the second student’s tuition from the same family and a 10% reduction for the third student’s tuition from the same family. If needed, special financial arrangements can be discussed at registration.

Any tuition adjustment must be made and approved by the School Board.
~If there is a need for tuition adjustments, the parent or guardian should make their request as soon as possible so that arrangements can be made to meet the tuition cost.Since each student must meet the full rate, a commitment will be necessary from another source to make up the difference. The other sourcecan be a friend, relative, church member, or contribution from the Worthy Student Fund.
Registration Fee
The current registration fee is $340.00.This fee includes student insurance, testing, library fees, and book fees for the year.Registration fees are not refundable and if book costs exceed the amount budgeted, or if additional testing is necessary, the school reserves the right to make additional charges.$170.00 is due at registration, and the other $170.00 is due by Dec. 31st.

STUDENT COMMUNICABLE DISEASES
No student will be denied an education solely by reason of a communicable disease, and his educational program will be restricted only to the extent necessary to minimize the risk of transmitting the disease.
Parents or guardians of infected students will inform appropriate school officials of the infection so that proper precautions for the protection of other students, employees, and the infected student will be taken.
No student with a communicable disease that endangers his own health or the health of other individuals will enter or remain in the regular school setting. If a school principal has reason to believe a student has a communicable disease that may endanger the health of either the student or other individuals in the regular school setting, the principle will:
1.Assign the student to a setting which will protect other students, employees, and the student himself; or
2.Exclude the student from school until the parent obtains certification from a physician or the county health department that the student is no longer a danger to other individuals.
If the principal has reason to believe that the student has a long-term communicable disease, the principal must require confirmation from a physician or the county health department as to the student’s condition. If the student is confirmed to have a long-term communicable disease, the principal will refer the student for special education services.
The names of all students excluded from school under this policy will be forwarded to the office of the superintendent of schools.

Grievance Protocol
For Dealing with Parent* Complaints/Concerns
Georgia-Cumberland Conference
Office of Education
The Conference K-12 Board of Education has voted the following grievance procedure for adoption and use in all schools. The procedure is mindful of due process and founded on the Biblical principles of Matthew 18.Any questions regarding the fundamental philosophy and/or procedures prescribed should be directed to the Office of Education.
Parent*/Teacher Complaint Procedure:
1.**Complainant is to meet with the teacher alone or as a family to deal with the issue/complaint.Under no circumstances is the issue/complaint to be discussed with any other party.
2.If the complaint remains unresolved after Step 1, the unresolved complaint is to be taken to the school principal/head teacher for the purpose of securing assistance in finding resolution.**A meeting among the three parties (principal, complainant, and teacher) is to be held with the principal chairing the meeting. The principal is to keep minutes of the meeting including all relevant issues and/or agreements discussed. The minutes are to be reviewed by all parties prior to the completion of the meeting.Should the grievance involve the school principal, the school board chairman would serve as facilitator and keep minutes.Should the principal be involved, the Office of Education is to be notified.
3.At each instance in which a complaint is registered, the teacher should have the right to address the complaint directly. If the complaint remains unresolved then the complaint will be referred to the Executive Committee of the School Board. At this point the Office of Education is to be directly involved.
4.If, after the aforementioned steps prove unsuccessful, and the complaint remains unresolved, a final appeal of the issue can be made to the School Board. In order to insure fairness the teacher is to be present at this meeting.A representative from the Office of Education will be invited by the school board chairman to participate in the discussion of the issues.Should the complainant be a member of the school board, s/he will remove themselves from the decision-making process relative to the issue at hand.A final resolution to the complaint will be acted upon at this level. All parties are to be officially notified, in writing, of the school board’s decision.
